به نام خدا، بخشندهترین، مهربانترین
[16:1] GOD's command has already been issued (and everything has already been written), so do not rush it.* Be He glorified; the Most High, far above any idols they set up.

(۱۶:۱) فرمان خدا از قبل صادر شده است (و همه چیز قبلاً نوشته شده است)، پس در آن عجله نکنید. ستایش او را؛ بلند مرتبهترین، بسیار بالاتر از معبودانی که قرار می‌دهند.

[16:2] He sends down the angels with the revelations, carrying His commands, to whomever He chooses from among His servants: "You shall preach that there is no other god beside Me; You shall reverence Me."

[16:3] He created the heavens and the earth for a specific purpose. He is much too High, far above any idols they set up.
(۱۶:۳) او آسمانها و زمین را به مقصود خاصی خلق کرد. او تعالی است، بسیار بالاتر از شرکایی که قرار می‌دهند.
[16:5] And He created the livestock for you, to provide you with warmth, and many other benefits, as well as food.
(۱۶:۵) و او چهارپایان را برای شما خلق کرد، تا برای شما گرما فراهم کنند، و بسیاری از فواید دیگر، همینطور بعنوان غذا.
[16:7] And they carry your loads to lands that you could not reach without a great hardship. Surely, your Lord is Compassionate, Most Merciful.
(۱۶:۷) و آنها بارهای شما را به سرزمینهایی حمل می‌کنند که شما نمی‌توانستید دست یابید، مگر به سختی فراوان. مسلماً، پروردگار شما دلسوز است، مهربانترین.
[16:8] And (He created) the horses, the mules, and the donkeys for you to ride, and for luxury. Additionally, He creates what you do not know.
(۱۶:۸) و (او خلق کرد) اسبها، قاطرها، و الاغها را برای شما که سوار شوید، و برای تجمل. بعلاوه، او خلق می‌کند آنچه را که شما نمی‌دانید.
[16:9] GOD points out the paths, including the wrong ones. If He willed, He could have guided all of you.
(۱۶:۹) خدا به راهها اشاره می‌کند، از جمله به راههای اشتباه. اگر او می‌خواست، می‌توانست همه شما را هدایت کند.
[16:11] With it, He grows for you crops, olives, date palms, grapes, and all kinds of fruits. This is (sufficient) proof for people who think.

[16:12] And He commits, in your service, the night and the day, as well as the sun and the moon. Also, the stars are committed by His command. These are (sufficient) proofs for people who understand.
(۱۶:۱۲) و او شب و روز و همینطور خورشید و ماه را به خدمت شما درمی‌آورد. همچنین، ستارگان به امر او تسلیم شدهاند. اینها اثباتی است (کافی) برای کسانی که می‌فهمند.
[16:13] And (He created) for you on earth things of various colors. This is a (sufficient) proof for people who take heed.
(۱۶:۱۳) و (او خلق کرد) برای شما روی زمین چیزهایی به رنگهای مختلف. این اثباتی است (کافی) برای مردمی که متوجه می‌شوند.
[16:14] And He committed the sea to serve you; you eat from it tender meat, and extract jewelry which you wear. And you see the ships roaming it for your commercial benefits, as you seek His bounties, that you may be appreciative.
(۱۶:۱۴) و او دریا را به خدمت شما درآورد؛ از گوشت لذیذ آن تغذیه می‌کنید، و از آن زینت آلاتی که می‌آویزید استخراج می‌کنید. و کشتیها را می‌بینید که برای منافع تجارتی شما در آن در حرکت هستند، درحالی که در جستجوی نعمتهای او هستید، تا باشد که سپاسگزار باشید.
[16:15] And He placed stabilizers (mountains) on earth, lest it tumbles with you, as well as rivers and roads, that you may be guided.

[16:18] If you count GOD's blessings, you cannot possibly encompass them. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
[16:20] As for the idols they set up beside GOD, they do not create anything; they themselves were created.
(۱۶:۲۰) و اما معبودانی را که آنها در کنار خدا قرار می‌دهند، هیچ چیزی خلق نمی‌کنند؛ آنها خود خلق شدهاند.
[16:22] Your god is one god. As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, their hearts are denying, and they are arrogant.
(۱۶:۲۲) خدای شما خدای است واحد. و اما کسانی که به آخرت ایمان ندارند، قلبشان انکار می‌کند، و آنها متکبر هستند.
[16:23] Absolutely, GOD knows everything they conceal and everything they declare. He does not love those who are arrogant.
(۱۶:۲۳) مسلماً، خدا می‌داند آنچه را آنها پنهان می‌دارند و آنچه را آشکار می‌سازند. او متکبران را دوست ندارد.
[16:24] When they are asked, "What do you think of these revelations from your Lord," they say, "Tales from the past."
(۱۶:۲۴) هنگامی که از آنها سئوال می‌شود، "درباره این آیات که از طرف پروردگارتان فرستاده شده است چه فکر می‌کنید،" گویند، "افسانههایی از گذشته."
[16:25] They will be held responsible for their sins on the Day of Resurrection, all of them, in addition to sins of all those whom they misled by their ignorance. What a miserable load!
(۱۶:۲۵) آنها در روز برانگیخته شدن مسئول گناهان خود خواهند بود، همه آنها، بعلاوه گناهان همه کسانی که آنها با جهالتشان گمراه کردند. چه بار بدی!
[16:26] Others like them have schemed in the past, and consequently, GOD destroyed their building at the foundation, causing the roof to fall on them. The retribution struck them when they least expected.
(۱۶:۲۶) دیگران مانند ایشان در گذشته توطئه کردهاند، و در نتیجه، خدا بنای آنها را از پایه ویران کرد، تا باعث شود سقف روی سر آنها خراب شود. عذاب بر آنها اصابت کرد، هنگامی که هرگز انتظارش را نداشتند.
[16:27] Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He will disgrace them and ask, "Where are My partners that you had set up beside Me, and had opposed Me for their sake?" Those blessed with knowledge will say, "Today, the shame and misery have befallen the disbelievers."

[16:28] The angels put them to death in a state of wronging their souls. That is when they finally submit, and say, "We did not do anything wrong!" Yes indeed. GOD is fully aware of everything you have done.
(۱۶:۲۸) فرشتگان آنها را در حال ستم به نفس خود، به مرگ در می‌آورند. آن وقتی است که آنها بالاخره تسلیم می‌شوند، و می‌گویند، "ما کار بدی انجام ندادیم!" بله البته. خدا کاملاً بر همه اعمالی که انجام دادهاید، آگاه است.
[16:29] Therefore, enter the gates of Hell, wherein you abide forever. What a miserable destiny for the arrogant ones.

[16:30] As for the righteous, when they are asked, "What do you think of these revelations from your Lord," they say, "Good." For those who lead a righteous life, happiness, and the abode of the Hereafter is even better. What a blissful abode for the righteous.
*16:30-32 The righteous taste only the first death, which has been already experienced by all of us (see 44:56). At the end of their interim in this world, the angels of death simply invite them to move on to the Paradise where Adam and Eve once lived (2:154, 3:169, 8:24, 22:58, 36:27).
(۱۶:۳۰) و اما پرهیزکاران، هنگامی که از آنها سئوال شود، "درباره این آیات که از طرف پروردگارتان فرستاده شده است، چه فکر می‌کنید،" گویند، "نیکوست." برای کسانی که زندگی پرهیزکارانهای را در پیش میگیرند، خوشبختی؛ و سرای آخرت حتی بهتر است. چه جایگاه فرحبخشی برای پرهیزکاران.

[16:31] The gardens of Eden are reserved for them, wherein rivers flow. They have anything they wish therein. GOD thus rewards the righteous.
(۱۶:۳۱) باغهای عدن برایشان نگاه داشته شدهاند که در آن رودخانهها جاری است. آنها هرچه بخواهند در آن برایشان مهیا است. خدا اینچنین به پرهیزکاران پاداش می‌دهد.
[16:32] The angels terminate their lives in a state of righteousness, saying, "Peace be upon you. Enter Paradise (now) as a reward for your works."*
*16:30-32 The righteous taste only the first death, which has been already experienced by all of us (see 44:56). At the end of their interim in this world, the angels of death simply invite them to move on to the Paradise where Adam and Eve once lived (2:154, 3:169, 8:24, 22:58, 36:27).
(۱۶:۳۲) فرشتگان آنها را درحال پرهیزکاری به مرگ در می‌آورند، می‌گویند، "صلح بر شما. (اکنون) وارد پردیس شوید، به خاطر پاداش اعمالتان."
* ۳۲- ۱۶:۳۰ پرهيزکاران فقط مرگ اول را تجربه ميکنند که همه ما قبلا ً آن را تجربه کرده ايم (به ۴۴:۵۶ مراجعه کنيد). در پايان مهلتشان در اين دنيا، فرشتگان مرگ آنها را دعوت ميکنند تا به پرديسى که آدم و حوا در آن زندگى ميکردند، بروند (۲:۱۵۴، ۳:۱۶۹، ۸:۲۸، ۲۲:۵۸، ۲۷- ۳۶:۲۶).
[16:33] Are they waiting for the angels to come to them, or until your Lord's judgment comes to pass? Those before them did the same thing. GOD is not the One who wronged them; they are the ones who wronged their own souls.
(۱۶:۳۳) آیا آنها منتظر هستند تا فرشتگان نزدشان آیند، یا تا اینکه قضاوت پروردگارت انجام گیرد؟ کسانی که قبل از ایشان بودند هم همین کار را کردند. خدا به آنها ستم نکرد؛ آنها هستند که به نفس خود ستم کردند.
[16:34] They have incurred the consequences of their evil works, and the very things they ridiculed came back to haunt them.
(۱۶:۳۴) آنها سزاوار نتیجه اعمال پلید خود شدهاند، و همان چیزهایی که مسخره می‌کردند، به سر خودشان آمد.
[16:35] The idol worshipers say, "Had GOD willed, we would not worship any idols besides Him, nor would our parents. Nor would we prohibit anything besides His prohibitions." Those before them have done the same. Can the messengers do anything but deliver the complete message?
(۱۶:۳۵) مشرکان گویند، "اگر خدا می‌خواست، نه ما معبودانی را در کنار او پرستش می‌کردیم، و نه والدین ما. و نه چیزی را در کنار حرامهای او، حرام می‌کردیم." کسانی که قبل از ایشان بودند هم همین کار را کردند. آیا رسولان می‌توانند به غیر از تحویل کامل پیغام، کار دیگری انجام دهند؟
[16:36] We have sent a messenger to every community, saying, "You shall worship GOD, and avoid idolatry." Subsequently, some were guided by GOD, while others were committed to straying. Roam the earth and note the consequences for the rejectors.
(۱۶:۳۶) ما به هر جمعیتی رسولی فرستادهایم، می‌گفت، "شما باید خدا را پرستش کنید، و از بُتپرستی دوری کنید." در نتیجه، بعضی به واسطه خدا هدایت شدند، درحالی که دیگران به گمراهی گرفتار شدند. در زمین گردش کنید و چگونگی عاقبت تکذیب کنندگان را ببینید.
[16:37] No matter how hard you try to guide them, GOD does not guide the ones He had committed to straying. Thus, no one can help them.
(۱۶:۳۷) تو هرچقدر در هدایت آنها کوشش کنی، خدا کسانی را که به گمراهی گرفتار شدهاند، هدایت نخواهد کرد. بنابراین، هیچکس نمی‌تواند آنها را کمک کند.
[16:38] They swore solemnly by GOD: "GOD will not resurrect the dead." Absolutely, such is His inviolable promise, but most people do not know.
(۱۶:۳۸) آنها رسماً به خدا قسم می‌خوردند: "خدا مردگان را برنمی‌انگیزد." مسلماً، این وعده غیرقابل اجتناب او است، اما اکثر مردم نمی‌دانند.
[16:39] He will then point out to everyone all the things they had disputed, and will let those who disbelieved know that they were liars.
(۱۶:۳۹) او سپس هرچه را در آن اختلاف کرده بودند به همه نشان خواهد داد، و می‌گذارد تا کسانی که ایمان نیاوردند بدانند که دروغگو بودند.
[16:41] Those who emigrated for the sake of GOD, because they were persecuted, we will surely make it up to them generously in this life, and the recompense of the Hereafter is even greater, if they only knew.
(۱۶:۴۱) کسانی که به خاطر خدا مهاجرت کردند، به خاطر اینکه مورد زجر و آزار قرار می‌گرفتند، ما مسلماً در این دنیا سخاوتمندانه برایشان جبران خواهیم کرد، و پاداش آخرت حتی بزرگتر است، اگر فقط می‌دانستند.
[16:43] We did not send before you except men whom we inspired. Ask those who know the scripture, if you do not know.
(۱۶:۴۳) ما قبل از تو نفرستادیم، مگر مردانی که به آنها وحی کردیم. از کسانی که کتاب آسمانی می‌دانند سئوال کنید، اگر نمی‌دانید.
[16:44] We provided them with the proofs and the scriptures. And we sent down to you this message, to proclaim for the people everything that is sent down to them, perhaps they will reflect.
(۱۶:۴۴) ما به آنها نشانهها و کتاب آسمانی دادیم، و ما این پیغام را بر تو پایین فرستادیم، تا آنچه را برایشان فرستاده شده است، به مردم اعلام کند، تا شاید تفکر کنند.
[16:45] Did those who scheme evil schemes guarantee that GOD will not cause the earth to swallow them, or that the retribution will not come to them when they least expect it?
(۱۶:۴۵) آیا کسانی که حیلههای پلید بکار می‌برند، تضمین می‌کنند که خدا باعث نخواهد شد که زمین آنها را ببلعد، یا هنگامی که اصلاً انتظارش را ندارند، بر آنها عذاب نخواهد آمد؟
[16:47] Or it may strike them while they are fearfully expecting it. Your Lord is Compassionate, Most Merciful.
(۱۶:۴۷) یا ممکن است هنگامی که هراسان در انتظار آن هستند به آنها اصابت کند. پروردگارتان دلسوز است، مهربانترین.
[16:48] Have they not seen all the things created by GOD? Their shadows surround them right and left, in total submission to GOD, and willingly.
(۱۶:۴۸) آیا آنها همه چیزهایی را که به واسطه خدا خلق شده است، ندیدهاند؟ سایههای آنها با میل و تسلیم کامل به خدا، آنها را از راست و چپ در برگرفتهاند.
[16:49] To GOD prostrates everything in the heavens and everything on earth — every creature—and so do the angels; without the least arrogance.*
*16:49 The human body, whether it belongs to a believer or a disbeliever, submits to God; the heartbeats, the lungs' movement, and peristalsis illustrate this submission.
(۱۶:۴۹) در برابر خدا سجده می‌کند همه چیز در آسمانها، و همه چیز در روی زمین-همه موجودات-و همچنین فرشتگان؛ بدون کوچکترین تکبر.
* ۱۶:۴۹ بدن انسان، چه متعلق به مؤمن باشد و چه متعلق به مشرک، تسليم خدا است؛ ضربان قلب، اعمال دستگاه تنفسى، و حرکات دودى معده، نشانگر اين تسليم است.
(۱۶:۵۰) آنها به هیبت پروردگارشان که مافوق آنهاست حرمت می‌نهند، و به هر فرمانی که به آنها داده شده عمل می‌کنند.
[16:51] GOD has proclaimed: "Do not worship two gods; there is only one god. You shall reverence Me alone."
(۱۶:۵۱) خدا اعلام کرده است: "دو خدا را پرستش نکنید؛ فقط یک خدا وجود دارد. شما باید به هیبت تنها من حرمت نهید."
[16:52] To Him belongs everything in the heavens and the earth and therefore, the religion shall be devoted absolutely to Him alone. Would you worship other than GOD?
(۱۶:۵۲) هر چه در آسمانها و در زمین است، از آن او است، و در نتیجه، دین باید مطلقاً به تنها او اختصاص داده شود. آیا غیر از خدا را پرستش می‌کنید؟
[16:53] Any blessing you enjoy is from GOD. Yet, whenever you incur any adversity you immediately complain to Him.
(۱۶:۵۳) هر نعمتی که از آن لذت می‌برید، از طرف خدا است. باوجود این هر وقت گرفتار مصیبتی می‌شوید، فوراً به او شکایت می‌کنید.
[16:55] Let them disbelieve in what we have given them. Go ahead and enjoy temporarily; you will surely find out.
[16:56] They designate for the idols they set up out of ignorance, a share of the provisions we bestow upon them. By GOD, you will be held accountable for your innovations.
(۱۶:۵۶) آنها از رزقی که ما به ایشان عطا می‌کنیم، سهمی برای معبودانی که از روی جهالت قرار دادهاند، کنار می‌گذارند. به خدا، به خاطر نوآوریهایتان از شما بازخواست خواهد شد.
[16:57] They even assign daughters to GOD, be He glorified, while they prefer for themselves what they like.
(۱۶:۵۷) آنها حتی دختران را برای خدا تعیین می‌کنند، ستایش او را، درحالی که برای خود هرچه مایل هستند ترجیح می‌دهند.
[16:59] Ashamed, he hides from the people, because of the bad news given to him. He even ponders: should he keep the baby grudgingly, or bury her in the dust. Miserable indeed is their judgment.
(۱۶:۵۹) خجالتزده، او خود را از مردم پنهان می‌کند، به خاطر خبر بدی که به او داده شده است. او حتی به این فکر می‌افتد: آیا این نوزاد را با اکراه نگه دارد، یا او را زنده بگور کند. به درستی که قضاوت آنها پلید است.
[16:60] Those who do not believe in the Hereafter set the worst examples, while to GOD belongs the most sublime examples. He is the Almighty, the Most Wise.
(۱۶:۶۰) کسانی که به آخرت ایمان ندارند، بدترین مثالها هستند، درحالی که والاترین مثالها از آن خدا است. او بزرگوار است، حکیمترین.
[16:61] If GOD punished the people for their transgressions, He would have annihilated every creature on earth. But He respites them for a specific, predetermined time. Once their interim ends, they cannot delay it by one hour, nor advance it.
(۱۶:۶۱) اگر خدا مردم را به خاطر سرپیچی کردنشان تنبیه می‌کرد، او همه موجودات روی زمین را هلاک کرده بود. اما او به آنها برای مدت زمانی تعیین شده از قبل مهلت می‌دهد. هنگامی که مهلتشان پایان یابد، یک ساعت هم نمی‌توانند آن را به جلو یا عقب اندازند.
[16:62] They ascribe to GOD what they dislike for themselves, then utter the lie with their own tongues that they are righteous! Without any doubt, they have incurred Hell, for they have rebelled.
(۱۶:۶۲) آنها آنچه را که بر خود نمی‌پسندند به خدا نسبت می‌دهند، سپس با زبان خود دروغ می‌گویند که پرهیزکار هستند! بدون شک، آنها سزاوار جهنم شدهاند، به خاطر سرکشی خویش.
[16:63] By GOD, we have sent (messengers) to communities before you, but the devil adorned their works in their eyes. Consequently, he is now their lord, and they have incurred a painful retribution.
(۱۶:۶۳) به خدا، ما به جمعیتهای قبل از شما هم (رسولانی) فرستادهایم، اما شیطان اعمالشان را در نظرشان زیبا جلوهگر ساخت. در نتیجه، اکنون او پروردگار آنها است، و آنها سزاوار عذابی دردناک شدهاند.
[16:64] We have revealed this scripture to you, to point out for them what they dispute, and to provide guidance and mercy for people who believe.
(۱۶:۶۴) ما این کتاب آسمانی را بر تو نازل کردهایم، تا آنچه را در آن اختلاف دارند، برایشان روشن سازد، و تا هدایت و رحمتی باشد برای مردمی که ایمان دارند.
[16:65] GOD sends down from the sky water to revive the land after it had died. This should be (sufficient) proof for people who hear.
(۱۶:۶۵) خدا آب را از آسمان می‌فرستد تا زمین را پس از اینکه مرده بود، حیات بخشد. این اثباتی (کافی) باشد برای مردمی که می‌شنوند.
[16:66] And in the livestock there is a lesson for you: we provide you with a drink from their bellies. From the midst of digested food and blood, you get pure milk, delicious for the drinkers.
(۱۶:۶۶) و در چهارپایان درسی است برای شما: ما برای شما از شکم آنها نوشیدنی تهیه می‌کنیم. از میان غذای هضم شده و خون، شیر خالص به دست می‌آورید که برای نوشندگان گوارا است.
[16:67] And from the fruits of date palms and grapes you produce intoxicants, as well as good provisions. This should be (sufficient) proof for people who understand.
(۱۶:۶۷) و از میوه نخلهای خرما و انگور، مست کنندهها را تهیه می‌کنید، و همینطور روزیهای خوب. این اثباتی (کافی) باشد برای مردمی که می‌فهمند.
[16:68] And your Lord inspired the bee: build homes in mountains and trees, and in (the hives) they build for you.
(۱۶:۶۸) و پروردگارت به زنبور وحی کرد: در کوهها و درختان لانه بساز، و آنها در (کندوها) برای شما می‌سازند.
[16:69] Then eat from all the fruits, following the design of your Lord, precisely. From their bellies comes a drink of different colors, wherein there is healing for the people. This should be (sufficient) proof for people who reflect.*
*16:69 Besides its recognized nutritive value, honey has been scientifically proven as a healing medicine for certain allergies and other ailments.
(۱۶:۶۹) سپس از همه میوهها بخور، از طراحی پروردگارت دقیقاً پیروی کن. از شکم آنها نوشیدنی به رنگهای مختلف بیرون می‌آید که در آن برای مردم شفا است. این اثباتی (کافی) باشد برای مردمی که فکر می‌کنند.
* ۱۶:۶۹ از نظر علمى ثابت شده است که عسل بغير از غذاييت داشتن، داروى شفا بخش حساسيت ها و ديگر ناخوشى هاى خاص است.
[16:70] GOD created you, then He terminates your lives. He lets some of you live to the oldest age, only to find out that there is a limit to the knowledge they can acquire. GOD is Omniscient, Omnipotent.
(۱۶:۷۰) خدا شما را خلق کرد، سپس او شما را می‌میراند. او می‌گذارد بعضی از شما تا سن پیری زندگی کنید، فقط به خاطر اینکه متوجه شوند دانشی که می‌توانند کسب کنند محدود است. خدا دانای مطلق است، قادر مطلق.
[16:71] GOD has provided for some of you more than others. Those who are given plenty would never give their properties to their subordinates to the extent of making them partners. Would they give up GOD's blessings?*
*16:71 If the humans would not give up their power to that extent, why do they expect God to do this, and create partners for Himself?
(۱۶:۷۱) خدا برای بعضی از شما بیشتر از دیگران روزی فراهم کرده است. کسانی که روزی بیشتری به ایشان داده شده است، هرگز املاک خود را به زیردستان خود نمی‌دهند تا آن اندازه که آنها را شریک خود قرار دهند. آیا آنها از نعمتهای خدا می‌گذرند؟

[16:72] And GOD made for you spouses from among yourselves, and produced for you from your spouses children and grandchildren, and provided you with good provisions. Should they believe in falsehood, and turn unappreciative of GOD's blessings?
(۱۶:۷۲) و خدا از میان شما برای شما همسران تعیین نمود، و برای شما از همسرانتان، فرزندان و نوادگان به وجود آورد، و برای شما روزیهای خوب تهیه کرد. آیا آنها به باطل ایمان می‌آورند، و نسبت به نعمتهای خدا ناسپاس می‌شوند؟
[16:73] Yet, they worship beside GOD what possesses no provisions for them in the heavens, nor on earth, nor can provide them with anything.
(۱۶:۷۳) با این حال آنها در کنار خدا چیزی را پرستش می‌کنند که هیچگونه روزی نه در آسمانها و نه در زمین برایشان دارد، و نه می‌تواند چیزی برایشان تهیه کند.
[16:75] GOD cites the example of a slave who is owned, and is totally powerless, compared to one whom we blessed with good provisions, from which he gives to charity secretly and publicly. Are they equal? Praise be to GOD, most of them do not know.
(۱۶:۷۵) خدا بردهای را مثال می‌زند که مالک دارد و هیچگونه قدرتی ندارد، در مقایسه با کسی که ما به او روزیهای خوب عطا کردیم که در پنهان و آشکار از آن انفاق می‌کند. آیا آنها برابر هستند؟ ستایش خدا را، اکثرشان نمی‌دانند.
[16:76] And GOD cites the example of two men: one is dumb, lacks the ability to do anything, is totally dependent on his master—whichever way he directs him, he cannot produce anything good. Is he equal to one who rules with justice, and is guided in the right path?
(۱۶:۷۶) و خدا دو مرد را مثال می‌زند: یکی گنگ که قدرت انجام هیچ کاری را ندارد، کاملاً به ارباب خود وابسته است-به هر جهتی او را راهنمایی می‌کند، نمی‌تواند هیچ چیز خوبی تولید کند. آیا او مساوی است با کسی که به عدالت حکم می‌کند و به راه راست هدایت شده است؟
[16:77] To GOD belongs the future of the heavens and the earth. As far as He is concerned, the end of the world (the Hour) is a blink of an eye away, or even closer. GOD is Omnipotent.
(۱۶:۷۷) از آن خدا است آینده آسمانها و زمین. از نظر او تا آخر دنیا (آن ساعت) یک چشم بهم زدن فاصله است، یا حتی زودتر. خدا قادر مطلق است.
[16:78] GOD brought you out of your mothers' bellies knowing nothing, and He gave you the hearing, the eyesight, and the brains, that you may be appreciative.
(۱۶:۷۸) خدا شما را از شکم مادرتان بیرون آورد، در حالی که هیچ نمی‌دانستید، و او به شما شنوایی، بینایی و عقل عطا کرد، تا باشد که سپاسگزار باشید.
[16:79] Do they not see the birds committed to fly in the atmosphere of the sky? None holds them up in the air except GOD. This should be (sufficient) proof for people who believe.
(۱۶:۷۹) آیا نمی‌بینند که پرندگان مقرر شدهاند تا در جو آسمان پرواز کنند؟ هیچکس آنها را در هوا نگاه نمی‌دارد بجز خدا. این اثباتی (کافی) باشد برای مردمی که ایمان دارند.
[16:80] And GOD provided for you stationary homes where you can live. And He provided for you portable homes made of the hides of livestock, so you can use them when you travel, and when you settle down. And from their wools, furs, and hair, you make furnishings and luxuries for awhile.
(۱۶:۸۰) و خدا برای زندگی کردن شما خانههای ثابت فراهم کرد. و او از پوست حیوانات خانههای قابل حمل برای شما فراهم کرد، تا هم هنگام مسافرت از آنها استفاده کنید، و هم هنگامی که در مکانی اقامت می‌کنید. و شما از پشم، پوست، و موی آنها برای مدتی اثاثیه و تجملات می‌سازید.
[16:81] And GOD provided for you shade through things which He created, and provided for you shelters in the mountains, and provided for you garments that protect you from heat, and garments that protect when you fight in wars. He thus perfects His blessings upon you, that you may submit.
(۱۶:۸۱) و خدا برای شما به واسطه چیزهایی که او آفریده است، سایه فراهم کرد، و در کوهها برای شما پناهگاهها فراهم آورد، و برای شما جامههایی فراهم کرد که شما را از گرما حفاظت می‌کند، و جامههایی که شما را هنگام جنگ محافظت می‌کند. او اینچنین نعمتهایش را بر شما کامل می‌کند، تا باشد که تسلیم شوید.
[16:83] They fully recognize GOD's blessings, then deny them; the majority of them are disbelievers.
(۱۶:۸۳) آنها کاملاً نعمتهای خدا را تشخیص می‌دهند، سپس آن را انکار می‌کنند؛ اکثر آنها کافر هستند.
[16:84] The day will come when we raise from every community a witness, then those who disbelieved will not be permitted (to speak), nor will they be excused.
(۱۶:۸۴) آن روز خواهد آمد که ما از هر جمعیتی شاهدی برمی‌انگیزیم، سپس کسانی که ایمان نیاوردند نه اجازه (صحبت کردن) خواهند داشت، و نه عذرشان پذیرفته خواهد شد.
[16:85] Once those who transgressed see the retribution, it will be too late; it will not be commuted for them, nor will they be respited.
(۱۶:۸۵) وقتی کسانی که سرپیچی کردند، عذاب را ببینند، بسیار دیر خواهد بود؛ نه عذاب از آنها برداشته خواهد شد، و نه به آنها مهلتی داده خواهد شد.
[16:86] And when those who committed idol worship see their idols, they will say, "Our Lord, these are the idols we had set up beside You." The idols will then confront them and say, "You are liars."
(۱۶:۸۶) و وقتی کسانی که شرک آوردند، معبودان خود را ببینند، خواهند گفت، "پروردگار ما، اینها هستند معبودانی که ما در کنار تو قرار داده بودیم." آنوقت معبودان با ایشان روبرو خواهند شد، و گویند، "شما دروغگو هستید."
[16:87] They will totally submit to GOD on that day, and the idols they had invented will disown them.
(۱۶:۸۷) در آن روز همگی کاملاً تسلیم خدا خواهند شد، و معبودانی که اختراع کرده بودند ایشان را طرد خواهند کرد.
[16:88] Those who disbelieve and repel from the path of GOD, we augment their retribution by adding more retribution, due to their transgressions.
(۱۶:۸۸) کسانی که ایمان نیاورند و از راه خدا دور کنند، ما به عذاب آنها عذابی بیشتر می‌افزاییم، به خاطر تجاوزهایشان.
[16:89] The day will come when we will raise from every community a witness from among them, and bring you as the witness of these people. We have revealed to you this book to provide explanations for everything, and guidance, and mercy, and good news for the submitters.
(۱۶:۸۹) آن روز خواهد آمد که ما از هر جمعیتی شاهدی از میانشان برمی‌انگیزیم، و تو را بعنوان شاهد این مردم می‌آوریم. ما این کتاب را بر تو نازل کردهایم، تا همه چیز را توضیح دهد، و هدایت، و رحمت، و اخبار خوشی باشد برای تسلیم شدگان.
[16:90] GOD advocates justice, charity, and regarding the relatives. And He forbids evil, vice, and transgression. He enlightens you, that you may take heed.
(۱۶:۹۰) خدا به عدل و انفاق و مراعات خویشاوندان تشویق می‌کند. و او اعمال پلید، فساد، و تجاوز را نهی می‌کند. او شما را راهنمایی می‌کند، تا باشد که متوجه شوید.
[16:91] You shall fulfill your covenant with GOD when you make such a covenant. You shall not violate the oaths after swearing (by God) to carry them out, for you have made GOD a guarantor for you. GOD knows everything you do.
(۱۶:۹۱) شما باید به عهد خود با خدا وفا کنید، هنگامی که چنین عهدی می‌بندید. شما نباید عهدها را بشکنید پس از اینکه (به خدا) قسم خوردید که به آن عمل می‌کنید، زیرا شما خدا را ضامن خود قرار دادهاید. خدا بر همه اعمال شما آگاه است.
[16:92] Do not be like the knitter who unravels her strong knitting into piles of flimsy yarn. This is your example if you abuse the oaths to take advantage of one another. Whether one group is larger than the other, GOD thus puts you to the test. He will surely show you on the Day of Resurrection everything you had disputed.
(۱۶:۹۲) مانند آن زن بافنده نباشید که بافت محکم خود را می‌شکافد تا تبدیل به تودهای از نخهای باز شده شود. این است مثال شما اگر از قسمها برای سود بردن از یکدیگر سوء استفاده کنید. چه یک گروه بزرگتر از گروه دیگر باشد، خدا اینچنین شما را امتحان می‌کند. او مسلماً در روز قیامت هرچه را در آن اختلاف داشتید، به شما نشان خواهد داد.
[16:93] Had GOD willed, He could have made you one congregation. But He sends astray whoever chooses to go astray, and He guides whoever wishes to be guided.* You will surely be asked about everything you have done.
*16:93 God knows the sincere believers among us who deserve to be redeemed. Accordingly, He guides them, while blocking out those who choose to disbelieve.
(۱۶:۹۳) اگر خدا می‌خواست، می‌توانست شما را یک جمعیت واحد قرار دهد. اما او هرکس که گمراهی را انتخاب کند، به گمراهی می‌فرستد، و او هرکس را که بخواهد هدایت شود هدایت می‌کند. از شما حتماً سئوال خواهد شد، درباره هر عملی که انجام دادهاید.
* ۱۶:۹۳ خدا مؤمنان واقعى در ميان ما را که استحقاق بخشيده شدن دارند، ميشناسد. بنابراين، او ايشان را هدايت ميکند، در حاليکه راه کسانى را که تصميم به کفر بگيرند، ميبندد.
[16:94] Do not abuse the oaths among you, lest you slide back after having a strong foothold, then you incur misery. Such is the consequence of repelling from the path of GOD (by setting a bad example); you incur a terrible retribution.
(۱۶:۹۴) از سوگندها در میان خود سوءاستفاده نکنید، تا مبادا بعد از اینکه ثابت قدم شدید، به عقب باز گردید، آنوقت گرفتار بدبختی شوید. چنین است نتیجه منحرف ساختن از راه خدا (با قرار دادن مثالی بد)؛ شما سزاوار عذابی عظیم می‌شوید.
[16:95] Do not sell your oaths before GOD short. What GOD possesses is far better for you, if you only knew.
(۱۶:۹۵) قسمهای خود را نزد خدا به بهای اندک نفروشید. آنچه نزد خدا است برای شما بسیار بهتر است، اگر فقط می‌دانستید.
[16:96] What you possess runs out, but what GOD possesses lasts forever. We will surely reward those who steadfastly persevere; we will recompense them for their righteous works.
(۱۶:۹۶) آنچه نزد شما است تمام می‌شود، اما آنچه نزد خدا است ابدی است. ما مسلماً پاداش کسانی را که ثابتقدمانه استقامت کنند، خواهیم داد؛ ما پاداش آنها را به خاطر کارهای پرهیزکارانهشان خواهیم داد.
[16:97] Anyone who works righteousness, male or female, while believing, we will surely grant them a happy life in this world, and we will surely pay them their full recompense (on the Day of Judgment) for their righteous works.
(۱۶:۹۷) هر کس اعمال پرهیزکارانه انجام دهد، چه مرد و چه زن، در حالی که ایمان داشته باشد، ما مسلماً در این دنیا به آنها زندگی خوش عطا خواهیم کرد، و مسلماً پاداش کامل آنها را به خاطر اعمال پرهیزکارانهشان (در روز قضاوت) خواهیم داد.
[16:98] When you read the Quran, you shall seek refuge in GOD from Satan the rejected.
*16:98 Our salvation is attained by knowing God's message to us, the Quran, and Satan will do his utmost to keep us from being redeemed. Hence this commandment.
(۱۶:۹۸) هنگامی که قرآن می‌خوانید، شما باید از شر شیطان مردود شده به خدا پناه ببرید.
* ۱۶:۹۸ هنگامى نجات پيدا ميکنيم که قرآن، پيغام خدا را به ما درک کنيم، و شيطان نهايت سعى و کوشش خود را خواهد کرد تا ما را از نجات يافتن باز دارد. به اين دليل، اين دستور مى آيد.
[16:100] His power is limited to those who choose him as their master; those who choose him as their god.
(۱۶:۱۰۰) قدرت او محدود به کسانی است که او را بعنوان سرور خود انتخاب می‌کنند، کسانی که او را خدای خود قرار می‌دهند.
[16:101] When we substitute one revelation in place of another, and GOD is fully aware of what He reveals, they say, "You made this up!" Indeed, most of them do not know.
(۱۶:۱۰۱) هنگامی که ما آیهای جانشین آیه دیگری می‌کنیم، و خدا کاملاً به آنچه نازل می‌کند آگاه است، آنها گویند، "تو این را از خود ساختهای!" واقعاً که اکثرشان نمی‌دانند.
[16:102] Say, "The Holy Spirit has brought it down from your Lord, truthfully, to assure those who believe, and to provide a beacon and good news for the submitters."
(۱۶:۱۰۲) بگو، "روح مقدس آن را از طرف پروردگارتان به حقیقت پایین آورده است، تا به کسانی که ایمان دارند اطمینان بخشد، و تا راهنمایی و بشارتی باشد برای تسلیم شدگان."
[16:103] We are fully aware that they say, "A human being is teaching him!" The tongue of the source they hint at is non-Arabic, and this is a perfect Arabic tongue.
(۱۶:۱۰۳) ما کاملاً آگاه هستیم که آنها می‌گویند، "بشری به او یاد می‌دهد!" زبان منبعی که آنها به آن اشاره می‌کنند، غیر عربی است، و این زبان عربی کاملی است.
[16:104] Surely, those who do not believe in GOD's revelations, GOD does not guide them. They have incurred a painful retribution.
(۱۶:۱۰۴) مسلماً، کسانی که به آیات خدا ایمان ندارند، خدا آنها را هدایت نمی‌کند. آنها سزاوار عذاب دردناکی شدهاند.
[16:105] The only ones who fabricate false doctrines are those who do not believe in GOD's revelations; they are the real liars.
(۱۶:۱۰۵) تنها کسانی که قوانین دروغین می‌سازند، کسانی هستند که به آیات خدا ایمان ندارند؛ آنها دروغگویان واقعی هستند.
[16:106] Those who disbelieve in GOD, after having acquired faith, and become fully content with disbelief, have incurred wrath from GOD. The only ones to be excused are those who are forced to profess disbelief, while their hearts are full of faith.*
*16:106 God's wisdom decrees that if someone holds a gun to your head and orders you to declare that you disbelieve in God, you may grant him his wish. What the heart harbors is what counts.
(۱۶:۱۰۶) کسانی که به خدا بی ایمان شوند، بعد از اینکه ایمان آورده بودند، و کاملاً به بی اعتقادی راضی باشند، سزاوار غضب خدا شدهاند. تنها کسانی که عذرشان موجه است کسانی هستند که مجبور به ادای بی اعتقادی شدهاند؛ در حالی که قلبشان پر از ایمان است.
* ۱۶:۱۰۶ حکمت خدا حکم ميکند که اگر کسى اسلحه بگذارد روى سر شما و به شما دستور بدهد که اقرار کنيد به خدا ايمان نداريد، ميتوانيد خواسته او را برآورده کنيد. آنچه در قلب است به حساب مى آيد.
[16:107] This is because they have given priority to this life over the Hereafter, and GOD does not guide such disbelieving people.
(۱۶:۱۰۷) این به خاطر آن است که آنها زندگی این دنیا را به آخرت ترجیح دادهاند، و خدا چنین مردم کافری را هدایت نمی‌کند.
[16:108] Those are the ones whom GOD has sealed their hearts, and their hearing, and their eyesight. Consequently, they remain unaware.
(۱۶:۱۰۸) آنها هستند کسانی که خدا بر قلبشان مهر زده است، و بر شنوایی، و بیناییشان. در نتیجه، آنها در غفلت بسر می‌برند.
[16:110] As for those who emigrate because of persecution, then continue to strive and steadfastly persevere, your Lord, because of all this, is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
(۱۶:۱۱۰) و اما کسانی که به خاطر زجر و آزار مهاجرت می‌کنند، سپس به کوشش ادامه می‌دهند و ثابتقدمانه استقامت می‌کنند، پروردگارت، به خاطر همه اینها، عفو کننده است، مهربانترین.
[16:111] The day will come when every soul will serve as its own advocate, and every soul will be paid fully for whatever it had done, without the least injustice.
(۱۶:۱۱۱) آن روز خواهد آمد که هر نفسی بعنوان مدافع خود انجام وظیفه خواهد کرد، و به هر نفسی برای هر عملی که انجام داده است، بدون کوچکترین بیعدالتی کامل پرداخت خواهد شد.
[16:112] GOD cites the example of a community that used to be secure and prosperous, with provisions coming to it from everywhere. But then, it turned unappreciative of GOD's blessings. Consequently, GOD caused them to taste the hardships of starvation and insecurity. Such is the requital for what they did.
(۱۶:۱۱۲) خدا جمعیتی را مثال می‌زند که در امنیت و رفاه بسر می‌برد، و از هر طرف روزی به آنها می‌رسید. اما سپس، آن جمعیت به نعمتهای خدا ناسپاس شد. در نتیجه، خدا باعث شد تا طعم سختی، گرسنگی و ناامنی را بچشند. چنین است جزای اعمالی که انجام دادند.
[16:113] A messenger had gone to them from among them, but they rejected him. Consequently, the retribution struck them for their transgression.
(۱۶:۱۱۳) رسولی از میانشان نزد آنها رفته بود، اما او را رد کردند. درنتیجه، به خاطر سرپیچیشان عذاب بر آنها آمد.
[16:114] Therefore, you shall eat from GOD's provisions everything that is lawful and good, and be appreciative of GOD's blessings, if you do worship Him alone.
(۱۶:۱۱۴) بنابراین، شما باید از روزیهای خدا بخورید آنچه که حلال و خوب است، و شکر نعمتهای خدا را بجا آورید، اگر حقیقتاً تنها او را پرستش می‌کنید.
[16:115] He only prohibits for you dead animals, blood, the meat of pigs,* and food which is dedicated to other than GOD. If one is forced (to eat these), without being deliberate or malicious, then GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

(۱۶:۱۱۵) او فقط حیوانات مرده، خون، گوشت خوک، و غذایی را که به غیر از خدا اهدا شده است، برای شما حرام می‌کند. اگر کسی مجبور (به خوردن اینها) شد، بدون اینکه از قصد یا بدخواهی باشد، پس خدا عفو کننده است، مهربانترین.

[16:116] You shall not utter lies with your own tongues stating: "This is lawful, and this is unlawful," to fabricate lies and attribute them to GOD. Surely, those who fabricate lies and attribute them to GOD will never succeed.
(۱۶:۱۱۶) شما نباید با زبان خود به دروغ بگویید: "این حلال است و این حرام است،" تا دروغ بسازید و آن را به خدا نسبت دهید. مسلماً، کسانی که دروغ می‌سازند و آن را به خدا نسبت می‌دهند، هرگز موفق نخواهند شد.
[16:118] For the Jews, we prohibited what we narrated to you previously.* It was not us who wronged them; they are the ones who wronged their own souls.

(۱۶:۱۱۸) برای یهودیان، ما همان چیزهایی را که قبلاً برای تو تعریف کردیم، حرام کردیم. ما نبودیم که به آنها ستم کردیم؛ آنها هستند که به نفس خود ستم کردند.

[16:119] Yet, as regards those who fall in sin out of ignorance then repent thereafter and reform, your Lord, after this is done, is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
(۱۶:۱۱۹) با این حال، نسبت به کسانی که از روی نادانی گناه می‌کنند، سپس توبه می‌کنند، و اصلاح می‌شوند، پروردگارت پس از اینکه این امر انجام شد، عفو کننده است، مهربانترین.
[16:120] Abraham was indeed an exemplary vanguard in his submission to GOD, a monotheist who never worshiped idols.
(۱۶:۱۲۰) به درستی که ابراهیم نمونهای از پیش قراولان در تسلیم خود به خدا بود، یکتاپرستی که هرگز بُتها را پرستش نکرد.
[16:121] Because he was appreciative of His Lord's blessings, He chose him and guided him in a straight path.
(۱۶:۱۲۱) چون او سپاسگزار نعمتهای پروردگارش بود، او، او را انتخاب کرد، و او را در راه راست هدایت کرد.
[16:123] Then we inspired you (Muhammad) to follow the religion of Abraham,* the monotheist; he never was an idol worshiper.
*16:123 This informs us that all religious practices, which came to us through Abraham, were intact at the time of Muhammad (see 22:78 and Appendix 9).
(۱۶:۱۲۳) سپس ما به تو (محمد) وحی کردیم که از دین ابراهیم پیروی کن، یکتاپرستی؛ او هرگز مشرک نبود.
* ۱۶:۱۲۳ اين آيه ما را آگاه ميسازد که کليه وظايف دينى که بواسطه ابراهيم به ما رسيده است، در زمان محمد رايج بوده اند (به آيه ۲۳:۷۸ و ضميمه ۹ توجه کنيد.
[16:124] The Sabbath was decreed only for those who ended up disputing it (Jews & Christians). Your Lord is the One who will judge them on the Day of Resurrection regarding their disputes.
(۱۶:۱۲۴) سبت فقط بر کسانی مقرر شده بود که در آن اختلاف کردند (یهودیان و مسیحیان). پروردگارت آن یکتایی است که در روز قیامت به خاطر اختلافاتشان قضاوت خواهد کرد.
[16:125] You shall invite to the path of your Lord with wisdom and kind enlightenment, and debate with them in the best possible manner. Your Lord knows best who has strayed from His path, and He knows best who are the guided ones.
(۱۶:۱۲۵) تو باید با حکمت و پندهای مهربانانه به راه پروردگارت دعوت کنی، و به بهترین طریق با آنها بحث کنی. پروردگارت بهتر از همه می‌داند چه کسی از راه او گمراه شده است، و او بهتر از همه می‌داند چه کسانی هدایت شدهاند.
[16:126] And if you punish, you shall inflict an equivalent punishment. But if you resort to patience (instead of revenge), it would be better for the patient ones.
(۱۶:۱۲۶) و اگر تنبیه می‌کنید، شما باید معادل همان تنبیه کنید. اما اگر صبر پیشه کنید (بجای انتقام)، برای صبوران بهتر خواهد بود.
[16:127] You shall resort to patience—and your patience is attainable only with GOD's help. Do not grieve over them, and do not be annoyed by their schemes.
