[12:2] We have revealed it an Arabic Quran, that you may understand.*

(۱۲:۲) ما آن را قرآنی به عربی نازل کردیم، تا باشد که بفهمید.

[12:3] We narrate to you the most accurate history through the revelation of this Quran. Before this, you were totally unaware.
(۱۲:۳) ما صحیحترین تاریخ را به واسطه وحی این قرآن برای تو حکایت می‌کنیم. قبل از این، شما کاملاً بیخبر بودید.
[12:4] Recall that Joseph said to his father, "O my father, I saw eleven planets, and the sun, and the moon; I saw them prostrating before me."
(۱۲:۴) بیاد آور که یوسف به پدرش گفت، "ای پدر من، من یازده سیاره دیدم، و خورشید و ماه؛ آنها را دیدم که در مقابل من سجده می‌کردند."
[12:5] He said, "My son, do not tell your brothers about your dream, lest they plot and scheme against you. Surely, the devil is man's worst enemy.
(۱۲:۵) او گفت، "پسرم، درباره خوابت به برادرانت چیزی نگو، تا مبادا بر علیه تو نقشه بکشند و توطئه کنند. مسلماً، شیطان بدترین دشمن انسان است.
[12:6] "Your Lord has thus blessed you, and has given you good news through your dream. He has perfected His blessings upon you and upon the family of Jacob, as He did for your ancestors Abraham and Isaac before that. Your Lord is Omniscient, Most Wise."
(۱۲:۶) "پروردگارت اینچنین به تو نعمت عطا کرده است، و به واسطه خوابت خبرهای خوشی به تو داده است. او نعمت خود را بر تو و خانواده یعقوب کامل کرده است، همانطور که قبل از آن بر پدرانت ابراهیم، و اسحاق کامل کرد. پروردگارت دانای مطلق است، حکیمترین."
[12:8] They said, "Joseph and his brother are favored by our father, and we are in the majority. Indeed, our father is far astray.
(۱۲:۸) آنها گفتند، "یوسف و برادرش مورد علاقه پدر ما هستند، و ما در اکثریت هستیم. واقعاً که پدر ما بسیار گمراه است.
[12:9] "Let us kill Joseph, or banish him, that you may get some attention from your father. Afterwards, you can be righteous people."*
*12:9 We learn from Joseph's dream that he was destined for a bright future. Thus, while his brothers met to decide his fate, his fate was already decided by God. Everything is done by God (8:17), and is already recorded (57:22).
(۱۲:۹) "بیایید یوسف را بکشیم، یا او را دور کنیم، تا شاید پدرتان قدری به شما توجه کند. پس از آن، می‌توانید مردمی پرهیزکار باشید."
* ۱۲:۹ ما از خواب يوسف چنين مى آموزيم که آينده درخشانى در انتظار او بود. بنابراين، در حاليکه برادرانش براى سرنوشت او تصميم ميگرفتند، او قبلا ً از سوى خدا تصميم گيرى شده بود. همه چيز بوسيله خدا انجام ميگيرد (۸:۱۷)، و قبلا ً ثبت شده است (۵۷:۲۲).
[12:10] One of them said, "Do not kill Joseph; let us throw him into the abyss of the well. Perhaps some caravan can pick him up, if this is what you decide to do."
(۱۲:۱۰) یکی از آنها گفت، "یوسف را نکشید، بیایید او را در حفره چاهی بیاندازیم. شاید کاروانی بتواند او را پیدا کند، اگر تصمیم به انجام چنین کاری دارید."
[12:13] He said, "I worry lest you go away with him, then the wolf may devour him while you are not watching him."
(۱۲:۱۳) او گفت، "من از این نگران هستم که شما او را با خود ببرید، سپس در حالی که مواظب او نیستید، گرگ او را بدرد."
[12:14] They said, "Indeed, if the wolf devours him, with so many of us around, then we are really losers."
(۱۲:۱۴) آنها گفتند، "به درستی که، اگر گرگ او را بدرد، باوجود عده زیاد ما، پس ما واقعاً از بازندگان هستیم."
[12:15] When they went away with him, and unanimously decided to throw him into the abyss of the well, we inspired him: "Some day, you will tell them about all this, while they have no idea."

[12:17] They said, "Our father, we went racing with each other, leaving Joseph with our equipment, and the wolf devoured him. You will never believe us, even if we were telling the truth."
(۱۲:۱۷) گفتند، "پدر ما، ما رفتیم که با هم مسابقه دهیم، یوسف را نزد وسایل خود گذاردیم، و گرگ او را درید. تو هرگز ما را باور نخواهی کرد، حتی اگر راستش را بگوییم."
[12:18] They produced his shirt with fake blood on it. He said, "Indeed, you have conspired with each other to commit a certain scheme. All I can do is resort to a quiet patience. May GOD help me in the face of your conspiracy."
(۱۲:۱۸) آنها پیراهن او را با خون دروغین بر روی آن، ارائه دادند. او گفت، "به درستی که شما با هم دسیسه کردهاید تا مرتکب توطئه خاصی شوید. تنها کاری که می‌توانم انجام دهم، این است که به صبر آرامی پناه ببرم. باشد که خدا من را در مقابل دسیسه شما کمک کند."
[12:19] A caravan passed by, and soon sent their waterer. He let down his bucket, then said, "How lucky! There is a boy here!" They took him along as merchandise, and GOD was fully aware of what they did.
(۱۲:۱۹) کاروانی از آنجا گذشت، و بزودی سقای خود را فرستادند. او سطل خود را پایین فرستاد، سپس گفت، "چه شانسی! پسری اینجا است!" آنها او را بعنوان کالای تجارتی با خود بردند، و خدا کاملاً بر آنچه انجام دادند، آگاه بود.
[12:21] The one who bought him in Egypt said to his wife, "Take good care of him. Maybe he can help us, or maybe we can adopt him." We thus established Joseph on earth, and we taught him the interpretation of dreams. GOD's command is always done, but most people do not know.
(۱۲:۲۱) کسی که در مصر او را خرید، به همسرش گفت، "از او خوب مواظبت کن. شاید او بتواند کمک ما باشد، یا شاید ما بتوانیم او را بفرزندی قبول کنیم." ما اینچنین یوسف را در زمین مکان دادیم، و ما به او تعبیر خوابها را آموختیم. فرمان خدا همیشه انجام میشود، اما اکثر مردم نمی‌دانند.
[12:22] When he reached maturity, we endowed him with wisdom and knowledge. We thus reward the righteous.
(۱۲:۲۲) هنگامی که او بالغ شد، ما به او حکمت و دانش عطا کردیم. ما اینچنین به پرهیزکاران پاداش می‌دهیم.
[12:23] The lady of the house where he lived tried to seduce him. She closed the doors and said, "I am all yours." He said, "May GOD protect me. He is my Lord, who gave me a good home.* The transgressors never succeed."
*12:23 Joseph worded this statement in such a way that the governor's wife thought that he was talking about her husband, when in fact he was talking about God.
(۱۲:۲۳) خانم خانهای که او در آن زندگی می‌کرد، سعی کرد او را فریب دهد. او (زن) درها را بست و گفت، "من کاملاً در اختیار تو هستم." او گفت، "باشد که خدا از من محافظت کند. او پروردگار من است، کسی که به من منزل خوبی داد. متجاوزین هرگز موفق نمی‌شوند."
* ۱۲:۲۳ يوسف اين عبارت را چنان اداء کرد که همسر فرماندار تصور کرد که منظور يوسف شوهر او است، در واقع، او درباره خدا حرف ميزد.
[12:24] She almost succumbed to him, and he almost succumbed to her, if it were not that he saw a proof from his Lord. We thus diverted evil and sin away from him, for he was one of our devoted servants.
(۱۲:۲۴) آن زن تقریباً در اختیار او قرار گرفت، و اگر به خاطر نشانهای که از طرف پروردگارش دید، نبود، او هم تقریباً در اختیار آن زن قرار گرفته بود. ما اینچنین بدی و گناه را از او دور کردیم، چون او یکی از بندگان مخلص ما بود.
[12:25] The two of them raced towards the door, and, in the process, she tore his garment from the back. They found her husband at the door. She said, "What should be the punishment for one who wanted to molest your wife, except imprisonment or a painful punishment?"
(۱۲:۲۵) هر دو آنها بطرف در شتافتند، و، در این میان، آن زن جامه او را از پشت پاره کرد. آنها شوهر او را دم در یافتند. آن زن گفت، "مجازات کسی که بخواهد مزاحم همسر تو شود، چه باشد، بجز زندان یا مجازاتی دردناک؟"
[12:26] He said, "She is the one who tried to seduce me." A witness from her family suggested: "If his garment is torn from the front, then she is telling the truth and he is a liar.
(۱۲:۲۶) او گفت، "آن زن بود که سعی بر فریفتن من داشت." شاهدی از طرف خانواده آن زن پیشنهاد کرد: "اگر جامه او از جلو پاره شده باشد، پس آن زن حقیقت را می‌گوید، و او دروغگو است.
[12:28] When her husband saw that his garment was torn from the back, he said, "This is a woman's scheme. Indeed, your scheming is formidable.
(۱۲:۲۸) هنگامی که شوهرش دید که جامه او از پشت پاره شده بود، گفت، "این توطئه یک زن است. مسلماً، توطئه شما مهیب است.
[12:29] "Joseph, disregard this incident. As for you (my wife), you should seek forgiveness for your sin. You have committed an error."
(۱۲:۲۹) "یوسف، این پیش آمد را نادیده بگیر. و اما تو (ای همسر من) برای گناه خود طلب بخشش کن. تو مرتکب اشتباه شدهای."
[12:30] Some women in the city gossiped: "The governor's wife is trying to seduce her servant. She is deeply in love with him. We see that she has gone astray."
(۱۲:۳۰) بعضی از زنان در شهر شایعهپراکنی کردند: "همسر فرماندار سعی بر فریفتن خدمتکار خود دارد. آن زن سخت عاشق او است. ما می‌بینیم که او گمراه شده است."
[12:31] When she heard of their gossip, she invited them, prepared for them a comfortable place, and gave each of them a knife. She then said to him, "Enter their room." When they saw him, they so admired him, that they cut their hands.* They said, "Glory be to GOD, this is not a human being; this is an honorable angel."
*12:31 This is the same word used in 5:38 regarding the hand of the thief, and the sum of sura and verse numbers (12+31 and 5+38) are the same. Therefore, the thief 's hand should be marked, not severed as practiced by the corrupted Islam (see Footnote 5:38).
(۱۲:۳۱) هنگامی که آن زن شایعهپراکنی آنها را شنید، آنها را دعوت کرد، مکانی راحت برایشان ترتیب داد، و به هر یک از آنها چاقویی داد. سپس به او گفت، "وارد اطاق آنها شو." هنگامی که آنها او را دیدند، چنان او را تحسین کردند که دستهای خود را بریدند. آنها گفتند، "ستایش خدا را، این انسان نیست؛ این فرشتهای است محترم."

[12:32] She said, "This is the one you blamed me for falling in love with. I did indeed try to seduce him, and he refused. Unless he does what I command him to do, he will surely go to prison, and will be debased."
(۱۲:۳۲) آن زن گفت، "این است کسی که شما به خاطر عاشقش شدن من را ملامت کردید. من واقعاً سعی به فریفتن او داشتم، و او امتناع کرد. او حتماً به زندان خواهد رفت، و خوار خواهد شد، مگر اینکه آنچه را من به او فرمان می‌دهم، انجام دهد."
[12:33] He said, "My Lord, the prison is better than giving in to them. Unless You divert their scheming from me, I may desire them and behave like the ignorant ones."
(۱۲:۳۳) او گفت، "پروردگار من، زندان بهتر از به تصرف آنها درآمدن است. اگر تو توطئه آنها را از من دور نکنی، ممکن است به ایشان میل کرده و مانند نادانان عمل کنم."
[12:34] His Lord answered his prayer and diverted their scheming from him. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient.
[12:36] Two young men were in the prison with him. One of them said, "I saw (in my dream) that I was making wine," and the other said, "I saw myself carrying bread on my head, from which the birds were eating. Inform us of the interpretation of these dreams. We see that you are righteous."
(۱۲:۳۶) دو مرد جوان با او در زندان بودند. یکی از آنها گفت، "من (در خوابم) دیدم که داشتم شراب درست می‌کردم،" و دیگری گفت، "من خود را دیدم که داشتم روی سرم نان حمل می‌کردم که پرندگان از آن می‌خوردند. ما را از تعبیر این خوابها آگاه کن. ما می‌بینیم که تو پرهیزکار هستی."
[12:37] He said, "If any food is provided to you, I can inform you about it before you receive it. This is some of the knowledge bestowed upon me by my Lord. I have forsaken the religion of people who do not believe in GOD, and with regard to the Hereafter, they are really disbelievers.
(۱۲:۳۷) او گفت، "اگر غذایی برای شما تهیه شود، می‌توانم قبل از اینکه آن را دریافت کنید، شما را از آن باخبر کنم. این قسمتی از دانشی است که پروردگارم به من عطا کرده است. من دین مردمی را که به خدا ایمان ندارند، و نسبت به آخرت واقعاً کافر هستند، ترک کردهام.
[12:38] "And I followed instead the religion of my ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We never set up any idols beside GOD. Such is the blessing from GOD upon us and upon the people, but most people are unappreciative.
(۱۲:۳۸) "و من در عوض از دین پدرانم، ابراهیم، اسحاق و یعقوب پیروی کردم. ما هرگز در کنار خدا شریکی قرار نمی‌دهیم. چنین است رحمت خدا بر ما و بر مردم، اما اکثر مردم ناسپاس هستند.
[12:40] "You do not worship beside Him except innovations that you have made up, you and your parents. GOD has never authorized such idols. All ruling belongs to GOD, and He has ruled that you shall not worship except Him. This is the perfect religion, but most people do not know.
(۱۲:۴۰) شما در کنار او پرستش نمی‌کنید مگر نوآوری که از خود ساختهاید، شما و والدین شما. خدا هرگز چنین معبودانی را تأیید نکرده است. همه حاکمیت از آن خدا است، و او حکم کرده است که شما نباید غیر از او را پرستش کنید. این کاملترین دین است، اما اکثر مردم نمی‌دانند.
[12:41] "O my prison mates, one of you will be the wine butler for his lord, while the other will be crucified— the birds will eat from his head. This settles the matter about which you have inquired."
(۱۲:۴۱) "ای هم سلولیهای من، یکی از شما ساقی اربابش خواهد شد، در حالی که دیگری به صلیب کشیده خواهد شد-پرندگان از سر او خواهند خورد. این سرانجام موضوعی است که درباره آن سئوال کردید."
[12:42] He then said to the one to be saved "Remember me at your lord."* Thus, the devil caused him to forget his Lord, and, consequently, he remained in prison a few more years.
*12:42 When Joseph begged his companion to intercede with the king on his behalf, he exhibited dependence on other than God to be saved from the prison. This does not befit a true believer, and such a serious slip cost Joseph a few years in the prison. We learn from the Quran that only God can relieve any hardship that might befall us. A true believer trusts in God and depends totally on Him alone (1:5, 6:17, 8:17, 10:107).
(۱۲:۴۲) سپس او به کسی که نجات پیدا می‌کرد گفت، "نزد اربابت من را بیاد آور." اینچنین، شیطان باعث شد که او پروردگارش را از یاد ببرد، و، در نتیجه، او چند سال بیشتر در زندان ماند.
* ۱۲:۴۲ هنگاميکه يوسف از همنشين خود تقاضا کرد که نزد پادشاه شفاعت او را کند، او به کسى غير از خدا متوسل شد تا از زندان نجات يابد. اين عمل در خوز يک مؤمن واقعى نيست، و اين کوتاهى مهم يوسف باعث شد که او چند سال بيشتر در زندان بماند. ما از قرآن مى آموزيم که فقط خدا است که ميتواند ما را از هر گونه سختى که بر ما آيد، نجات دهد. مؤمن واقعى به خدا ايمان دارد و به تنها او توکل ميکند (۱:۵، ۶:۱۷، ۸:۱۷، ۱۰:۱۰۷).
[12:43] The king said, "I saw seven fat cows being devoured by seven skinny cows, and seven green spikes (of wheat), and others shriveled. O my elders, advise me regarding my dream, if you know how to interpret the dreams."
(۱۲:۴۳) پادشاه گفت، "من دیدم هفت گاو فربه به واسطه هفت گاو لاغر بلعیده می‌شدند، و هفت خوشه سبز (گندم)، و بقیه خشکیده بودند. ای بزرگان من، درباره خوابم من را راهنمایی کنید، اگر تعبیر خواب می‌دانید."
[12:44] They said, "Nonsense dreams. When it comes to the interpretation of dreams, we are not knowledgeable."
[12:45] The one who was saved (from the prison) said, now that he finally remembered, "I can tell you its interpretation, so send me (to Joseph)."
(۱۲:۴۵) شخصی که نجات پیدا کرده بود (از زندان)، حال که بالاخره یادش آمد، گفت، "من می‌توانم تعبیر آن را بگویم، پس من را (نزد یوسف) بفرستید."
[12:46] "Joseph my friend, inform us about seven fat cows being devoured by seven skinny cows, and seven green spikes, and others shriveled. I wish to go back with some information for the people."
(۱۲:۴۶) "یوسف، دوست من، ما را از هفت گاو فربه که به وسیله هفت گاو لاغر بلعیده می‌شوند و هفت خوشه سبز و بقیه خشکیده بودند، آگاه کن. می‌خواهم با قدری اطلاعات برای مردم بازگردم."
[12:47] He said, "What you cultivate during the next seven years, when the time of harvest comes, leave the grains in their spikes, except for what you eat.
(۱۲:۴۷) او گفت، "آنچه در خلال هفت سال آینده زراعت می‌کنید، هنگامی که زمان درو فرا میرسد، دانهها را در خوشههایش باقی گذارید، بجز آنچه می‌خورید.
[12:48] "After that, seven years of drought will come, which will consume most of what you stored for them.
[12:49] "After that, a year will come that brings relief for the people, and they will, once again, press juice."
(۱۲:۴۹) "پس از آن، سالی خواهد آمد که موجب آرامش مردم خواهد شد، و بار دیگر از محصولات برخوردار خواهند شد."
[12:50] The king said, "Bring him to me." When the messenger came to him, he said, "Go back to your lord and ask him to investigate the women who cut their hands. My Lord is fully aware of their schemes."
(۱۲:۵۰) پادشاه گفت، "او را نزد من بیاورید." هنگامی که آن فرستاده نزد او آمد، او گفت، "نزد اربابت بازگرد و از او بخواه تا درباره زنانی که دستهایشان را بریدند، تحقیق کند. پروردگار من کاملاً بر توطئه آنها آگاه است."
[12:51] (The king) said (to the women), "What do you know about the incident when you tried to seduce Joseph?" They said, "GOD forbid; we did not know of anything evil committed by him." The wife of the governor said, "Now the truth has prevailed. I am the one who tried to seduce him, and he was the truthful one.
(۱۲:۵۱) (پادشاه به زنان) گفت، "راجع به آن پیشامد که شما سعی کردید یوسف را فریب دهید چه می‌دانید؟" آنها گفتند، "پناه بر خدا؛ ما هیچ چیز بدی از او ندیدیم." همسر فرماندار گفت، "اکنون حقیقت آشکار شده است. من بودم که می‌خواستم او را فریب دهم و او راستگو بود.
[12:52] "I hope that he will realize that I never betrayed him in his absence, for GOD does not bless the schemes of the betrayers.
(۱۲:۵۲) "من امیدوارم که او متوجه شود که من هرگز در غیابش به او خیانت نکردم، زیرا خدا هرگز توطئه خیانتکاران را بجایی نمی‌رساند.
[12:53] "I do not claim innocence for myself. The self is an advocate of vice, except for those who have attained mercy from my Lord. My Lord is Forgiver, Most Merciful."
(۱۲:۵۳) "من ادعا نمی‌کنم که بیگناه هستم. نفس به بدی گرایش دارد، بجز کسانی که از رحمت پروردگارم برخوردار شدهاند. پروردگار من عفو کننده است، مهربانترین."
[12:54] The king said, "Bring him to me, so I can hire him to work for me." When he talked with him, he said, "Today, you have a prominent position with us."
(۱۲:۵۴) پادشاه گفت، "او را نزد من بیاورید، تا او را استخدام کنم که برای من کار کند." هنگامی که با او صحبت کرد، گفت، "امروز، تو نزد ما مقام بالایی پیدا کردهای."
[12:56] We thus established Joseph on earth, ruling as he wished. We shower our mercy upon whomever we will, and we never fail to recompense the righteous.
(۱۲:۵۶) ما اینچنین یوسف را در زمین جاه و مقام دادیم، تا هر طور که می‌خواست حکمروایی کند. ما رحمت خود را بر هر کس که بخواهیم می‌باریم، و ما هرگز پاداش پرهیزکاران را ضایع نمی‌کنیم.
[12:57] Additionally, the reward in the Hereafter is even better for those who believe and lead a righteous life.
(۱۲:۵۷) بعلاوه، حتی پاداش آخرت برای کسانی که مؤمن هستند و زندگی پرهیزکارانهای را در پیش می‌گیرند، بهتر است.
[12:58] Joseph's brothers came; when they entered, he recognized them, while they did not recognize him.
(۱۲:۵۸) برادران یوسف آمدند؛ هنگامی که وارد شدند، او آنها را شناخت، در حالی که آنها او را بجا نیاوردند.
[12:59] After he provided them with their provisions, he said, "Next time, bring with you your half-brother. Do you not see that I give full measure, and treat you generously?
(۱۲:۵۹) پس از اینکه آذوقه آنها را تهیه کرد، گفت، "دفعه بعد، برادر ناتنی خود را با خودتان بیاورید. آیا نمی‌بینید که من باندازه کافی به شما می‌دهم، و با شما سخاوتمندانه رفتار می‌کنم؟
[12:60] "If you fail to bring him to me, you will get no share from me; you will not even come close."
[12:62] He then instructed his assistants: "Put their goods back in their bags. When they find them upon their return to their family, they may come back sooner."
(۱۲:۶۲) سپس او به دستیاران خود دستور داد: "کالای آنها را دوباره در کیسههایشان بگذارید. هنگامی که نزد خانوادهشان باز گردند و آنها را پیدا کنند، ممکن است زودتر باز گردند."
[12:63] When they returned to their father, they said, "Our father, we can no longer get any provisions, unless you send our brother with us. We will take good care of him."
(۱۲:۶۳) هنگامی که نزد پدرشان بازگشتند، گفتند، "پدر ما، ما دیگر نمی‌توانیم آذوقه بگیریم، مگر اینکه برادرمان را با ما بفرستی. ما از او خوب مواظبت خواهیم کرد."
[12:64] He said, "Shall I trust you with him, as I trusted you with his brother before that? GOD is the best Protector, and, of all the merciful ones, He is the Most Merciful."
(۱۲:۶۴) او گفت، "آیا باید درباره او به شما اطمینان کنم، همانطور که قبلاً نسبت به برادرش به شما اطمینان کردم؟" خدا بهترین حفاظت کننده است، و از همه مهربانان، او مهربانترین است.
[12:65] When they opened their bags, they found their goods returned to them. They said, "Our father, what more can we ask for? Here are our goods returned to us. We can thus provide for our family, protect our brother, and receive one more camel-load. This is certainly a profitable deal."

[12:66] He said, "I will not send him with you, unless you give me a solemn pledge before GOD that you will bring him back, unless you are utterly overwhelmed." When they gave him their solemn pledge, he said, "GOD is witnessing everything we say."

[12:67] And he said, "O my sons, do not enter from one door; enter through separate doors. However, I cannot save you from anything that is predetermined by GOD. To GOD belongs all judgments. I trust in Him, and in Him shall all the trusters put their trust."
(۱۲:۶۷) و او گفت، "ای پسران من، از یک در وارد نشوید؛ از درهای مختلف وارد شوید. اگرچه که من نمی‌توانم شما را از چیزی که خدا از قبل تعیین کرده است، نجات دهم. همه قضاوتها از آن خدا است. من به او توکل دارم، و همه توکل کنندگان باید به او توکل کنند."
[12:68] When they went (to Joseph), they entered in accordance with their father's instructions. Although this could not change anything decreed by GOD, Jacob had a private reason for asking them to do this. For he possessed certain knowledge that we taught him, but most people do not know.

[12:69] When they entered Joseph's place, he brought his brother closer to him and said, "I am your brother; do not be saddened by their actions."

[12:70] When he provided them with their provisions, he placed the drinking cup in his brother's bag, then an announcer announced: "The owners of this caravan are thieves."

[12:72] They said, "We lost the king's cup. Anyone who returns it will receive an extra camel-load; I personally guarantee this."

[12:73] They said, "By GOD, you know full well that we did not come here to commit evil, nor are we thieves."
(۱۲:۷۳) آنها گفتند، "به خدا، شما خوب می‌دانید که ما نیامدهایم اینجا تا مرتکب پلیدی شویم، و ما دزد نیستیم.
[12:75] They said, "The punishment, if it is found in his bag, is that the thief belongs to you. We thus punish the guilty."
(۱۲:۷۵) آنها گفتند، "مجازات این باشد که اگر در کیسه او پیدا شود، دزد مال شما است. ما اینچنین گناهکار را تنبیه می‌کنیم.
[12:76] He then started by inspecting their containers, before getting to his brother's container, and he extracted it out of his brother's container. We thus perfected the scheme for Joseph; he could not have kept his brother if he applied the king's law. But that was the will of GOD. We exalt whomever we choose to higher ranks. Above every knowledgeable one, there is one who is even more knowledgeable.

[12:77] They said, "If he stole, so did a brother of his in the past." Joseph concealed his feelings in himself, and did not give them any clue. He said (to himself), "You are really bad. GOD is fully aware of your accusations."
(۱۲:۷۷) آنها گفتند، "اگر او دزدی کرد، برادرش هم قبلاً دزدی کرد." یوسف احساسات خود را درون خود مخفی داشت، و به آنها چیزی نگفت. او (با خودش) گفت، "شما واقعاً بد هستید. خدا کاملاً از تهمتهای شما آگاه است."
[12:78] They said, "O you noble one, he has a father who is elderly; would you take one of us in his place? We see that you are a kind man."
(۱۲:۷۸) آنها گفتند، "ای بزرگوار، او پدری دارد که پیر است؛ آیا ممکنست یکی از ما را بجای او نگه داری؟ ما می‌بینیم که تو مرد مهربانی هستی."
[12:79] He said, "GOD forbid that we should take other than the one in whose possession we found our goods. Otherwise, we would be unjust."
(۱۲:۷۹) او گفت، "پنا بر خدا، اگر ما کسی غیر از شخصی را که کالای ما نزد او پیدا شده است، نگه داریم. در غیر اینصورت، ما عادل نخواهیم بود."
[12:80] When they despaired of changing his mind, they conferred together. Their eldest said, "Do you realize that your father has taken a solemn pledge from you before GOD? In the past you lost Joseph. I am not leaving this place until my father gives me permission, or until GOD judges for me; He is the best Judge.
(۱۲:۸۰) هنگامی که از تغییر دادن عقیده او مأیوس شدند، با هم مشورت کردند. بزرگترینشان گفت، "آیا متوجه هستید که پدرتا نزد خدا از شما عهد محکمی گرفته است؟ شما در گذشته یوسف را گم کردید. من اینجا را ترک نمی‌کنم تا پدرم به من اجازه بدهد، یا تا اینکه خدا برای من قضاوت کند؛ او بهترین قاضی است.
[12:81] "Go back to your father and tell him...
'Our father, your son has committed a theft. We know for sure, because this is what we have witnessed. This was an unexpected occurrence.
(۱۲:۸۱) "باز گردید نزد پدرتان و به او بگویید
"پدر ما، پسرت مرتکب دزدی شده است. ما اطمینان داریم، زیرا این چیزی است که ما بر آن شاهد بودهایم. این واقعه غیرمنتظرهای بود.
[12:82] 'You may ask the community where we were, and the caravan that came back with us. We are telling the truth.'"
(۱۲:۸۲) "تو می‌توانی از جمعیتی که ما در آن بودیم سئوال کنی، و کاروانی که با ما بازگشت. ما حقیقت را می‌گوییم.""
[12:83] He said, "Indeed, you have conspired to carry out a certain scheme. Quiet patience is my only recourse. May GOD bring them all back to me. He is the Omniscient, Most Wise."
(۱۲:۸۳) او گفت، "حقیقتاً که دسیسه کردهاید تا نقشه خاصی را اجرا کنید. صبری آرام تنها پناه من است. باشد که خدا همه آنها را نزد من بازگرداند. او آگاه است، حکیمترین."
[12:84] He turned away from them, saying, "I am grieving over Joseph." His eyes turned white from grieving so much; he was truly sad.
(۱۲:۸۴) او از ایشان روی گرداند، می‌گفت، "من غصهدار یوسف هستم." چشمانش از عزاداری بیش از حد سفید شد؛ او واقعاً اندوهگین بود.
[12:85] They said, "By GOD, you will keep on grieving over Joseph until you become ill, or until you die."
[12:86] He said, "I simply complain to GOD about my dilemma and grief, for I know from GOD what you do not know.
(۱۲:۸۶) او گفت، "من فقط از وضع دشوار و اندوه خود به خدا شکایت می‌کنم، چون من از سوی خدا چیزی می‌دانم که شما نمی‌دانید.
[12:87] "O my sons, go fetch Joseph and his brother, and never despair of GOD's grace. None despairs of GOD's grace except the disbelieving people."
(۱۲:۸۷) "ای پسران من، بروید یوسف و برادرش را بیاورید، و هرگز از رحمت خدا مأیوس نشوید. هیچکس از رحمت خدا مأیوس نمی‌شود، بجز مردم کافر."
[12:88] When they entered (Joseph's) quarters, they said, "O you noble one, we have suffered a lot of hardship, along with our family, and we have brought inferior goods. But we hope that you will give us full measure and be charitable to us. GOD rewards the charitable."
(۱۲:۸۸) هنگامی که وارد اقامتگاه (یوسف) شدند، گفتند، "ای بزرگوار، ما سختی فراوانی کشیدهایم، همینطور خانواده ما، و ما کالای نامرغوب آوردهایم. اما ما امیدواریم که تو به ما پیمانه کامل بدهی و به ما انفاق کنی. خدا به انفاقکنندگان پاداش می‌دهد."
[12:90] They said, "You must be Joseph." He said, "I am Joseph, and here is my brother. GOD has blessed us. That is because if one leads a righteous life, and steadfastly perseveres, GOD never fails to reward the righteous."
(۱۲:۹۰) آنها گفتند، "تو باید یوسف باشی." او گفت، "من یوسف هستم، و این هم برادر من است. خدا به ما نعمت داده است. این به خاطر آن است که اگر کسی زندگی پرهیزکارانهای را در پیش گیرد و ثابتقدمانه استقامت کند، خدا هرگز از دادن پاداش به پرهیزکاران کوتاهی نمی‌کند."
[12:92] He said, "There is no blame upon you today. May GOD forgive you. Of all the merciful ones, He is the Most Merciful.
(۱۲:۹۲) او گفت، "امروز هیچ سرزنشی بر شما نیست. باشد تا خدا شما را ببخشد. از همه مهربانان، او مهربانترین است.
[12:93] "Take this shirt of mine; when you throw it on my father's face, his vision will be restored. Bring your whole family and come back to me."*
*12:93 This marks the beginning of the Children of Israel in Egypt. Moses led them out of Egypt a few centuries later.
(۱۲:۹۳) "این پیراهن من را بگیرید؛ هنگامی که آن را روی صورت پدرم بیاندازید، بینایی او باز خواهد گشت. همه خانواده خود را بیاورید و نزد من باز گردید."
* ۱۲:۹۳ اين نشانه شروع بنى اسراييل در مصر است. موسى چند قرن بعد، آنها را از مصر بيرون برد.
[12:94] Even before the caravan arrived, their father said, "I can sense the smell of Joseph. Will someone enlighten me?"
(۱۲:۹۴) حتی قبل از اینکه کاروان برسد، پدرشان گفت، "من بوی یوسف را حس می‌کنم. آیا کسی من را راهنمایی می‌کند؟"
[12:96] When the bearer of good news arrived, he threw (the shirt) on his face, whereupon his vision was restored. He said, "Did I not tell you that I knew from GOD what you did not know?"
(۱۲:۹۶) هنگامی که حامل خبر خوش وارد شد، (پیراهن را) روی صورت او انداخت که به واسطه آن، بینایی خود را دو باره باز یافت. او گفت، "آیا نگفتم به شما که از سوی خدا چیزی می‌دانستم که شما نمی‌دانستید؟"
[12:99] When they entered Joseph's quarters, he embraced his parents, saying, "Welcome to Egypt. GOD willing, you will be safe here."
(۱۲:۹۹) هنگامی که وارد اقامتگاه یوسف شدند، او والدین خود را در آغوش کشید، گفت، "به مصر خوش آمدید. به خواست خدا، شما در اینجا در امان خواهید بود."
[12:100] He raised his parents upon the throne. They fell prostrate before him. He said, "O my father, this is the fulfillment of my old dream. My Lord has made it come true. He has blessed me, delivered me from the prison, and brought you from the desert, after the devil had driven a wedge between me and my brothers. My Lord is Most Kind towards whomever He wills. He is the Knower, the Most Wise."
(۱۲:۱۰۰) او والدین خود را بر تخت بالا برد. آنها در مقابل او سجده کردند. او گفت، "ای پدر من، این تعبیر خواب قدیمی من است. پروردگارم آن را به حقیقت درآورده است. او به من نعمت داده است، من را از زندان رها ساخته است، و شما را از صحرا به اینجا آورده است، پس از اینکه شیطان بین من و برادرانم جدایی انداخته بود. پروردگار من نسبت به هرکس که بخواهد، مهربانترین است. او آگاه است، حکیمترین."
[12:101] "My Lord, You have given me kingship and taught me the interpretation of dreams. Initiator of the heavens and the earth; You are my Lord and Master in this life and in the Hereafter. Let me die as a submitter, and count me with the righteous."
(۱۲:۱۰۱) "پروردگار من، تو به من پادشاهی عطا کردهای و تعبیر خوابها را به من آموختی. آغاز کننده آسمانها و زمین؛ تو در این دنیا، و در آخرت مولا و سرور من هستی. بگذار تا تسلیم شده بمیرم، و من را با پرهیزکاران به حساب آور."
[12:102] This is news from the past that we reveal to you. You were not present when they made their unanimous decision (to throw Joseph in the well), as they conspired together.
(۱۲:۱۰۲) این اخباری است از گذشته که ما به تو وحی می‌کنیم. تو حاضر نبودی هنگامی که همگی تصمیم گرفتند (یوسف را در چاه بیاندازند)، همانطور که با یکدیگر دسیسه کردند.
[12:103] Most people, no matter what you do, will not believe.
[12:104] You are not asking them for any money; you simply deliver this reminder for all the people.
[12:105] So many proofs in the heavens and the earth are given to them, but they pass by them, heedlessly!
(۱۲:۱۰۵) نشانههای فراوانی در آسمانها و زمین به آنها داده شده است، اما آنها بدون توجه از کنار آن می‌گذرند!
[12:106] The majority of those who believe in GOD do not do so without committing idol worship.
(۱۲:۱۰۶) اکثر کسانی که به خدا ایمان دارند، ایمان نمی‌آورند، بدون اینکه مرتکب شرک شوند.
[12:107] Have they guaranteed that an overwhelming retribution from GOD will not strike them, or the Hour will not come to them suddenly, when they least expect it?
(۱۲:۱۰۷) آیا تضمین شدهاند که عذاب دربر گیرنده خدا به ایشان اصابت نخواهد کرد، یا اینکه آن ساعت یک مرتبه بر آنها نخواهد آمد، هنگامی که اصلاً انتظار آن را ندارند؟
[12:108] Say, "This is my path: I invite to GOD, on the basis of a clear proof, and so do those who follow me. GOD be glorified. I am not an idol worshiper."
(۱۲:۱۰۸) بگو، "این راه من است: من به خدا دعوت می‌کنم، بر اساس اثباتی آشکار، و کسانی که از من پیروی می‌کنند هم همینطور. ستایش خدا را. من مشرک نیستم."
[12:109] We did not send before you except men whom we inspired, chosen from the people of various communities. Did they not roam the earth and see the consequences for those before them? The abode of the Hereafter is far better for those who lead a righteous life. Would you then understand?
(۱۲:۱۰۹) ما قبل از تو نفرستادیم مگر مردانی که به ایشان وحی کردیم، انتخاب شده از مردم جمعیتهای مختلف. آیا در زمین گردش نکردند تا عاقبت کسانی را که قبل از ایشان بودند، ببینند؟ سرای آخرت برای کسانی که زندگی پرهیزکارانهای را در پیش گیرند بسیار بهتر است. پس آیا می‌فهمید؟
[12:110] Just when the messengers despair, and think that they had been rejected, our victory comes to them. We then save whomever we choose, while our retribution for the guilty people is unavoidable.
(۱۲:۱۱۰) درست هنگامی که رسولان مأیوس می‌شوند، و گمان می‌کنند که رد شدهاند، پیروزی ما بر ایشان می‌آید. سپس ما هرکس را انتخاب کنیم نجات می‌دهیم، درحالی که عذاب ما بر مردم گناهکار اجتنابناپذیر است.
[12:111] In their history, there is a lesson for those who possess intelligence. This is not fabricated Hadith; this (Quran) confirms all previous scriptures, provides the details of everything, and is a beacon and mercy for those who believe.
(۱۲:۱۱۱) در تاریخ آنها، برای صاحبان خرد، درس عبرتی است. این "حدیثی" ساختگی نیست؛ این ("قرآن") همه کتابهای آسمانی قبلی را تصدیق می‌کند، همه چیز به تفصیل در آن است، و راهنما و رحمتی است برای کسانی که ایمان دارند.
